This study explores how two male Indonesian workers in Japan perceive YouTube as a self-directed learning tool for improving their English-speaking skills. Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants who utilized YouTube to enhance their pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency. The findings reveal that YouTube supports autonomous language learning by enabling learners to refine their pronunciation through adaptive listening and imitation, expand their vocabulary through contextual exposure, and improve fluency by observing authentic speech patterns. Although YouTube offers flexibility and accessibility, its effectiveness is limited by the lack of interactive communication in workplace settings. This study contributes to the growing discourse on informal digital learning by recommending that EFL learners incorporate interactive practices alongside YouTube-based learning. Future research is encouraged to explore strategies for bridging online exposure with real-world language use.
