REPRESENTASI IDENTITAS MUSLIM DALAM WACANA BERITA

This study aims to reveal the representation of Muslim identity in Eid al-Fitr news coverage in the secular media Kompas and the religious media Hidayatullah using Roger Fowler’s Critical Discourse Analysis approach. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data consisting of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences found in news texts. The analysis focuses on lexical and grammatical aspects, including classification, restriction of perspective, marginalization, discursive contestation, as well as the use of passive constructions and nominalization. The findings indicate that the secular media Kompas tends to represent Muslims as objects of news coverage within social activities, whereas the religious media Hidayatullah positions Muslim identity as the primary subject of discourse by emphasizing religious values, communal solidarity, and the spiritual meaning of Eid al-Fitr.
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap representasi identitas Muslim dalam pemberitaan Idulfitri pada media sekuler Kompas dan media religius Hidayatullah dengan pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis Roger Fowler. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan data berupa kata, frasa, klausa, dan kalimat dalam teks berita. Analisis difokuskan pada aspek kosakata dan tata bahasa, meliputi klasifikasi, pembatas pandangan, peminggiran, pertarungan wacana, serta penggunaan kalimat pasif dan nominalisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media sekuler Kompas cenderung merepresentasikan Muslim sebagai objek pemberitaan dalam aktivitas sosial, sementara media religius Hidayatullah menempatkan identitas Muslim sebagai subjek utama wacana dengan penekanan pada nilai religius, solidaritas umat, dan makna spiritual Idulfitri.
