TRAUMA TRANSGENERASIONAL DALAM CERPEN CEROBONG TUA TERUS MENDERA KARYA RAUDAL TANJUNG BANUA

Abstract

Trauma can spread through the process of transmitting traumatic experiences to the descendants of survivors. Using explanatory methods and Marianne Hirsch's post-memory concept, this study aims to dig deeper into how transgenerational trauma presents in Cerobong Tua Terus Mendera (2024), as well as how trauma is manifested by the character Wiji. Wiji's transgenerational trauma is the result of a historical process that operates across generations and originates from the life story of Ki Ageng Mangir. The symptoms of Wiji's trauma appear in the form of involuntary memory through the sound of the chimney as a medium that brings together the past and present in the same affective moment. Involuntary memory is no longer just a flashback, but a traumatic repetition—a re-enactment that makes the past intensely present again in the body of the present.

Trauma dapat disebarkan melalui proses transmisi pengalaman-pengalaman traumatis kepada keturunan penyintas. Dengan metode eksplanatif dan konsep pasca-ingatan Marianne Hirsch, penelitian ini bertujuan menggali lebih dalam bagaimana trauma transgenerasional dihadirkan pada Cerobong Tua Terus Mendera, serta bagaimana bentuk trauma dimanifestasikan oleh tokoh Wiji. Trauma transgenerasional Wiji adalah hasil dari proses historis yang bekerja lintas generasi dan berasal dari kisah hidup Ki Ageng Mangir. Gejala trauma Wiji muncul dalam bentuk involuntary memory melalui suara cerobong sebagai medium yang mempertemukan masa lalu dan masa kini dalam satu momen afektif yang sama. Involuntary memory bukan lagi sekadar kilas balik, tetapi pengulangan traumatik—sebuah re-enactment yang membuat masa lalu hadir kembali secara intens dalam tubuh masa kini.
