REFLECTION OF LIFE THE FOLKTALE OF SI PITUNG AS ORAL LITERATURE OF BETAWI SOCIETY

The story of Si Pitung is a legendary folktale among the Betawi people and has been told from generation to generation. Si Pitung was a hero of his time who fought against the Dutch. This makes the story of Si Pitung used as a living reference by the Betawi people because of his diligent attitude, good at reciting the Quran, and courage in fighting the Dutch to fight for the rights of the small people. This research uses a content analysis method to examine the implied and explicit texts regarding the story of Si Pitung in Cakung District, East Jakarta. The data in this research are words, actions and descriptions of sentences in the story of Si Pitung. Through this research, it is hoped that it will be a reflection that the Pitung story is still relevant to today's life, especially the implementation of the moral and social values contained in the story. This is also able to provide evidence that the oral story culture of society is able to contribute to overcoming social problems in everyday life.

LOCALIZED POSTFEMINIST SENSIBILITY IN WARDAH'S 'BEAUTY MOVES YOU' CAMPAIGN

Women’s empowerment is central in global advertising but increasingly commodified. Previous studies have largely focused on halal branding, leaving localized postfeminist sensibilities in Muslim-majority contexts underexplored. This study examines how Wardah’s Beauty Moves You campaign constructs a localized postfeminist sensibility by merging global empowerment ideals with Indonesia’s Islamic and cultural values. Through qualitative textual and visual analysis of two advertisements (2021–2023) from Wardah’s YouTube channel, the study identifies three interconnected dimensions of empowerment: faith-based modesty, social purpose, and modern identity. The findings show that Wardah reframes beauty as an ethical force grounded in moral composure and communal solidarity, shifting individual autonomy toward socially and spiritually anchored self-expression, thus contributing an alternative empowerment model to feminist media scholarship.

GASTRONOMIC EXPRESSIONS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS' POETRY AND THEY PRESERVE CULINARY CULTURE IN INDONESIA

This study This study describes the characteristics of gastronomic poetry expressions by students of SMPN 10 Malang stimulated by YouTube media. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, text analysis was conducted on 33 student poems discussing various Indonesian cuisines. The data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that students construct vivid sensory experiences utilizing denotative and connotative diction, five types of imagery (visual, olfactory, tactile, gustatory, auditory), and diverse figures of speech. Crucially, the study highlights a natural complexity of expression, where students combine multiple images and figures of speech in a single line to describe textures, aromas, and tastes. This proves digital media effectively builds culinary cultural identity appreciation for Generation Alpha without requiring direct experience.

CYBERDRAMATIC GRIEF IN CLAIR OBSCUR: EXPEDITION 33

This study examines how grief functions within the narrative structure of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, addressing a gap left by previous research focused primarily on translation, trauma, and player experience. Combining A. J. Greimas’s actantial model and modalities with Janet Murray’s concept of cyberdrama, the study utilizes qualitative textual analysis of narrative events, dialogues, gameplay sequences, and cyberdramatic structures across three acts. The findings reveal that grief operates as a modal intensifier, sustaining the characters' orientation toward action (vouloir-faire) despite shifts in subjects, objects, and knowledge. Additional exploration and optional content further drive this narrative motivation rather than diminishing it. Consequently, this study offers a new structural perspective, showing how grief operates within interactive systems.

LEECH’S POLITENESS PRINCIPLES IN ARABIC INSTRUCTIONAL DIALOGUES: A PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS OF DURUS AL-LUGHAH LI GHAIRI AN-NATHIQINA BIHA VOLUME 2

This study analyzes the application of Geoffrey Leech's politeness principles in conversations in Durus al-Lughah li Ghairi an-Nathiqina Biha Volume 2. The purpose is to identify six maxims and explain their communicative functions. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the findings show that sympathy, generosity, agreement, and approbation are dominant. The book not only supports language learning but also internalizes Arab social and cultural values.

DECONSTRUCTING ANTHROPOCENTRISM IN ASEP ARDIAN’S NOVEL ONI JOUSKA: AN ECOCRITICAL STUDY

This article examines the novel Oni Jouska by Asep Ardian through an ecocritical approach, focusing on the subject-object relationship between humans and nature. Using the theoretical framework of ecocriticism from Cheryll Glotfelty, Lawrence Buell, and Greg Garrard, this study analyzes three main aspects: (1) the use of narrative strategies of via negativa and defamiliarization; (2) the symbolism of character names as an ecological map; and (3) The Great Pacific Garbage Patch as a setting of ecopolitical significance. The findings show that the novel consistently deconstructs the anthropocentric paradigm through the perspectives of marginalized marine creatures. The novel functions simultaneously as an ecological manifesto, a spiritual reflection, and a philosophical critique of human domination over nature.

MORPHOLOGICAL, SEMANTIC, AND SYNTACTIC ANALYSIS OF VERBS IN POLITICAL NEWS ARTICLES

Verbs are vital in political news for representing actions and shaping events, yet previous research rarely analyzes their morphological, semantic, and syntactic aspects comprehensively. This study examines these integrated dimensions using a qualitative content analysis approach. The data consists of 92 verbs extracted from the political news text “Violence by Authorities Is Not Easily Resolved,” published in Kompas (April 16, 2026). Data were collected via observation and note-taking. The results show that the verbs comprise base and inflected forms, convey meanings of action, process, state, and attitude, and consistently function as sentence predicates. By integrating morphological, semantic, and syntactic analysis, this study contributes a holistic framework, concluding that verbs play a central role in constructing structure and meaning in political news reporting.

EXISTENCE AND FREEDOM IN HORSE METAPHOR: A STUDY OF CREATIVE PROCESS IN PAINTING ART

Freedom is understood as a fundamental aspect of human existence because every individual is confronted with the capacity to choose, determine attitudes, and take responsibility for the meaning of life they construct, as emphasized in existentialist thought, particularly that of Jean-Paul Sartre. Within the practice of contemporary visual art, this understanding is often manifested through personal experience, existential reflection, and visual symbolism that become essential elements in the creative process. This study aims to produce a painting that visualizes freedom and self-existence through the metaphor of the horse within an expressive realist approach. The method employed is a qualitative creation-based approach referring to Graham Wallas’s stages of the creative process: preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. The results indicate that the visualization of the horse is able to represent relational dynamics, awareness of limitation, and the process of accepting wounds as part of the formation of self-meaning. These findings affirm that painting can function as a reflective medium for understanding freedom as an ongoing existential process within human experience.
